Our editorial policy for hand and finger pages
Who is behind the hand guides
Analyze My Hand is written and run by the JointLens team. We are not hand surgeons or radiologists, and no clinician reviews our finger, thumb and hand pages before they appear. Guides are published under the site name so that responsibility sits with the team that actually wrote them.
AI as a writing and translation tool
AI language models help us draft hand pages and translate them. A team member edits every draft and checks each medical statement against the sources the page cites. Translations are made with AI from the English page, and the English page is the reference if they differ. The analyzer is a separate service in which several general-purpose AI models describe the hand images you choose; those answers are not reviewed by a person first.
Where the hand facts come from
We check hand topics against original papers, such as Stener's description of the displaced thumb ligament and the Eaton–Littler staging of thumb base arthritis, against peer-reviewed reviews found through PubMed, and against guidance from the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American College of Radiology. The main references are listed in a Sources section on each medical page. Splint and supplement marketing is not used.
Not medical advice
A hand guide helps you read words like boxer's fracture or gamekeeper's thumb on a report. It is not medical advice and not a diagnosis, and it cannot say whether a finger needs splinting, taping or surgery. A finger that is bent out of line, numb or pale after an injury should be seen the same day. Read our Medical Disclaimer for the full limits.
How hand pages are kept current
Each guide shows when it was last updated. We re-check a hand page when the staging, classification or guideline it relies on changes, or when a reader reports a problem. There is no fixed review cycle, and we do not claim one.
Send a correction
To report a mistake, start a message with the form below. Tell us which page and which statement, plus a source if you have one. Confirmed errors are corrected and the page date is updated.
Hand images are processed locally
Hand X-rays, MRI and photos you open are handled in your browser and never stored on our servers. When you ask the AI, only rendered images of what you selected and your text are sent. The Privacy Policy has the details.
